“The cup of blessing that we bless, is it not a participation in the blood of Christ?  The bread that we break, is it not a participation in the body of Christ?”

- 1 Corinthians 10:16

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHC or EMs) are called to deepen their devotion to the Holy Eucharist and to model their lives more closely to the Lord Jesus. They have the privilege of serving at the table of the Lord, and so are entrusted with the responsibility of assisting the priest and deacon in the distribution of the Sacred Body and Blood of Christ. They should be reverent in prayer, dress modestly and appropriately, as fitting for bearers of the Holy Eucharist, and demonstrate care for and protection of the sacred vessels. EMHC may also visit the homebound, aged and sick, so that these members of our community may receive the Eucharist and remain connected with our parish family.

EMHC must be fully initiated, having received the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist, and are active practicing Catholics of at least 18 years of age, in full communion with the church and of proven faith and morals, striving to live in the state of grace.  Training is required, and participation is a privilege granted with the approval of the pastor. EMHC who visit the homebound are required to take a Safe Environment course, as provided by the Diocese.

All are encouraged to spend some time in adoration before our Lord in the Most Blessed Sacrament.
