Becoming Catholic

Baptism, the Eucharist, and the sacrament of Confirmation together constitute the "sacraments of Christian initiation," whose unity must be safeguarded. It must be explained to the faithful that the reception of the sacrament of Confirmation is necessary for the completion of baptismal grace.  For "by the sacrament of Confirmation, [the baptized] are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit.  Hence they are, as true witnesses of Christ, more strictly obliged to spread and defend the faith by word and deed.

The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults - OCIA

The Journey to becoming Catholic

Weekly Gatherings on Wednesdays from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm

Are you …

  1. thinking about becoming Catholic ?
  2. dating, engaged, or married to a Catholic ?
  3. a friend of one or more Catholics ?
  4. baptized but missing the Sacrament of Holy Communion and / or Confirmation ?
  5. just interested in learning about the Catholic faith ?

OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation for Adults) is a beautiful process for the un-baptized, or those who have been baptized in other Christian faiths, who are seeking full communion with the Catholic Church.  As Catholic Christians we believe that God calls each one of us by name.  A sense of longing in your heart, a desire to belong, a feeling of being “at home” may be signs of where God is calling you.

“OCIA – Adapted for Children” is for children age 7 or older and either unbaptized or baptized into a different Christian tradition (i.e., non-Catholic).  OCIA – Adapted is offered concurrently with the adult program.  Sessions are available weekly, with Breaking Open the Word and Catechetical gatherings.
