Sacraments & Life

That is why a man leaves his father and mother and clings to his wife, and the two of them become one body.

 Genesis 2:24

Holy Matrimony

Marriage Covenant

The sacred covenant in the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony is a symbol of the union between Christ and his Church; therefore, marital love must be permanent, life-giving, and freely shared.  The different components of the marriage preparation process strive to help you and your future marriage to radiate Christ's unselfish love and grow ever closer to God and to one another.

To marry in the Catholic Church, either the bride or groom must be a practicing Roman Catholic and registered at St. Thomas Aquinas Parish. The Catholic Church requires six months of premarital preparation.

What is a Marriage Convalidation?

Convalidation in the Catholic Church is for civilly married couples who wish to deepen their marriage commitment to one another and to Christ by becoming married in the eyes of the Church.

What is an Annulment?

An annulment in the Catholic Church—officially called a Declaration of Nullity—is a formal decree by a church court stating that a marriage was invalid from the start because it lacked an essential element required for a true spiritual bond

If you are seeking to have your marriage convalidated or looking into having a marriage annulled, or if you have any questions regarding the above, please contact the parish office to speak with our Pastor.
